4) WHY pH BALANCE?

The skin around the eyes is very different than ‘regular’ skin. It is thinner and the most complex of your body. (Remember it is also the only location where the outer tear is ‘manufactured’?). This special skin also contains fewer lipids (the ‘mortar’ in between your cell “bricks”). Many shampoos and harsh commercial lid scrubs, clean, but wash away the mortar, creating pathways for organisms and debris. There is a scale that measures such harshness to skin. It is called the pH scale. Your eyelid skin is more vulnerable to harsh surfactants than any other body part. So some solutions create a condition for your eyelids that is worse than before.
